Public safety

Safer short-term help in the Valley — without fake “fully vetted” claims.

Vegas Works connects people who need short-term paid help with local workers looking for flexible gigs. We take safety seriously — and we won’t pretend a new marketplace is bulletproof on day one.

Here’s what we do now, what we don’t do yet, and how to report a problem.

What we do at launch

  • Free to post, free to apply — we don’t sell leads. Nobody should ask you to pay a fee to apply or to “unlock” a gig.
  • Your street address stays private — public listings show the neighborhood only (e.g. Summerlin). The full address and access details are shared only after someone is hired.
  • Clear gig details before you apply — date, hours, pay, scope, and requirements should be visible up front.
  • Profiles and history — completed gigs and reviews help both sides decide who to work with again.
  • A report path — flag scams, unsafe situations, harassment, discrimination, no-shows, or misrepresentation. Reports go to a review queue; account actions need a person to decide.
  • Category limits — we only support specific short-term services at launch. Some work isn’t allowed on the platform at all (see below).

What we don’t claim (yet)

  • We are not a staffing agency, employer, or insurer for every gig.
  • We do not guarantee background checks, bonding, or insurance for every worker or customer at launch.
  • Alcohol-awareness cards and Food Handler cards (when relevant) are trust signals workers can choose to show — not an automatic green light from us.
  • Early gigs may be paid off-platform (cash / Venmo / Zelle) until platform payments exist — treat payment disputes carefully and report anything that feels like a scam.

We won’t claim “fully vetted,” “background checked,” “bonded,” “insured,” or “guaranteed safe” on day one unless those statements are actually true for the product.

Allowed at launch

Short-term, paid gigs in the Las Vegas Valley for:

  • Bartending
  • Servers / hosts
  • Event setup / teardown / cleanup
  • Photo / video
  • DJ / music
  • Party décor / styling
  • Residential cleaning
  • Airbnb turnover

Not allowed (hard blocks)

These are blocked or removed. Don’t post them to pad the site.

  • Childcare
  • Medical / personal care
  • Security
  • Passenger transport
  • Licensed trades (electrical / plumbing / HVAC / construction)
  • Weapons
  • Adult / sexual services
  • Illegal activity
  • MLM
  • Unpaid work
  • Commission-only framed as gigs
  • Pay-to-apply
  • Suspicious financial asks
  • Categories we haven’t launched yet (e.g. moving, promo staff, general labor)

Also not OK: discrimination in requirements or messages; fake profiles, reviews, or certifications; harassment or threats; bait listings; scammy pressure to move payment or chat off-platform; unpaid / “for exposure” work.

Practical tips

Customers

  • Meet or message in-app when you can; keep agreed scope and pay clear in writing.
  • Don’t share gate codes, passwords, or full address on the public gig post.
  • For bartending: you are responsible for knowing hotel / HOA / local rules about alcohol at your location. We’re a matching marketplace, not your liquor license.

Workers

  • Don’t pay anyone for a “guaranteed” gig or to “get approved.”
  • Walk away from jobs that ask you to handle weapons, illegal activity, or anything outside the posted scope.
  • If a location or person feels unsafe, leave and report.

How to report

Use Report on the gig, profile, or message. Include what happened and any screenshots you’re willing to share. Reports go to a review queue; someone reviews before account actions happen.

Common reasons: scam or fee ask, unsafe or illegal request, harassment, discrimination, misrepresentation, no-show / fulfillment issues, or other.

Early users: if something’s off and the in-app report isn’t enough, use the in-app report path and we’ll follow up — a dedicated contact channel is coming.

Community guidelines (summary)

Post and apply only in launch categories. Keep listings honest about pay, time, neighborhood, and scope. Treat people with respect. Don’t discriminate, harass, or bait-and-switch. Don’t ask workers to pay fees. Report problems instead of escalating them off-platform into something messier.

Product blocks catch some excluded categories and fee-to-apply language; everything else is reviewed by a person.
